Survived By God’s Grace
my daddy said a storm was coming could be big, could be nothing we’re near the river so have to watch lots of water could come thru that notch we had lots of wind and too much rain the storm outside sounded like a train my parents said it would be alright I am starting to shake all over from fright a tree fell down thru the roof rain came in we had to move daddy said the water’s rising with all this rain it’s not surprising I grabbed my puppy and ran up stairs this storm had caught us unawares my parents put my life vest on me they said to hold on to my puppy the house was shaking and it was scary mommy said we had to move hasty river still rising we climbed on top up on the roof the water wouldn’t stop we cuddled close held on to each other all I could hear was rain and thunder the house was shaking and started to float taken by the current just like a boat we hit a big rock my parents washed away they said to Jesus please save me today I held my puppy as we hit the water I said a prayer as Jesus daughter please save me Jesus my puppy too I know that you can pull us through we floated to the bank of the river we were cold and started to shiver snagged on a tree we’re held in place I had mud all over my face stayed there all night as the river went by holding my puppy we started to cry hung there two days till a boatman came by were we ever happy to see this guy took me and my puppy to a safe place we survived the flood By God’s Grace David Rose |
