A Big Star

here I am at 68
and still writing verse
share my writes on all poetry
it could be a whole lot worse

performed my music
as a young lad
played guitar sang some too
did quite well I might add

wrote some songs
and had my own band
things didn’t work out
as I had planned

life can roll on
a different direction
when passing through
a milestone intersection

it’s alright
I had a great career
kept on writing
didn’t let that interfere

now that I’m retired
it’s all ok
I enjoy the good life
wouldn’t have it another way

I still write songs
and perform my guitar
maybe there’s still hope
to become a big star
